Turn on the console holding + and press at the title screen. If done crrectly, it will open a menu enabling the player to choose the amount of lives (1 to 6), level select (1 to 4), music and bmg sound test.

To execute level select, hit reset, then hold down button and hit . This will bring you to the configuration mode, where you can pick the level you want.
